Mr Goddard, Wolverhampton

What fantastic views and a welcome break walking the Peak District. We loved our weekend away and look forward to visiting again very soon.

Mr and Mrs Hollton, Inverness

Just wanted to say what a peaceful time we had relaxing in the Dales. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The accommodation was superb and we found it very cosy.

Local Attractions

Derbyshire has a wealth of great country houses and stately homes. Some local ones are Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Sudbury Hall, Calke Abbey & Tissington Hall.

The market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton & Leek are all easily reached. There are many pubs and restaurants in the area as well as several farmshops supplying top-quality local produce, and the Hartington Cheese Shop, selling local cheeses direct. A peaceful walk down Biggin Dale is very close and various mountain bike routes are within riding distance.

Chatsworth House
Chatsworth is one of Britain's best loved historic houses and estates. We offer something for everyone to enjoy, from famous works of art, young animals and the spectacular fountains in the garden to the finest shopping, food and drink and many miles of free walks. The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is set in the magnificent landscape of Derbyshire's Peak District National Park.

Haddon Hall
Haddon Hall is a fortified medieval manor house dating from the 12 th Century, and is the home of Lord and Lady Edward Manners whose family have owned it since 1567. The house is open to visitors from April to October, with a number of special events being staged throughout the season. School parties and groups are very welcome. Further details can be found within the website.

Sudbury Hall
Sudbury Hall, which featured in the BBC's Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre, is a grand 17th-century family home. Experience the richly decorated interiors, including wood carving by Grinling Gibbons, and the Great Staircase, which is one of the most elaborate of its kind in any English house.

Tissington Hall
Tissington Hall. Built by my ancestor, Francis FitzHerbert in 1609 to replace the moated manor house to the north of the church, it has served our family as our main home for the best part of 400 years. I have gained great pleasure from turning this house into a family home and hope you will enjoy your visit to the website which tells you about all the various operations at the Hall and the Estate.
